Our 2023 Scholars are presented here in the last name alphabetical order
Nicole Anderson: Nicole is a doctoral student at Morgan State University. She’s is in her third year in the Transportation and Urban Infrastructure Studies program under the advisement of Dr. Young-Jae Lee. She earned her Masters (2012) in Civil Engineering and Bachelors (2011) in Environmental Engineering at Florida International University. Her research interest have been focused on lithium battery and electric vehicle projects , transportation of liquified natural gas, and hazardous material applications. Nicole is the Secretary of Morgan State’s Institute of Transportation Engineers and a member of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporated. Her hobbies are karaoke, museums, and visiting national parks.

Trevor Evetts: Trevor Evetts is a 3rd year at the University of Florida, pursuing a B.S. in both Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of Dr. Christopher Petersen’s Spacecraft Technology and Research (S.T.A.R.) Laboratory, where he is actively developing a model for satellites in cislunar space. Growing up on the Space Coast has led him to nurture a passion for engineering, and he seeks to enter the space industry following graduation. In his free time, Trevor likes spending time with friends, playing sports, over-analyzing videogame/movie plotlines, and creating music. He would like to thank his parents for helping him to develop the tools necessary to be selected as a member of the 2023 cohort, and is looking forward to seeing all the interesting sights in South Korea.

Maheono Guilloux-Chevalier: My name is Maheono Guilloux-Chevalier, I am a sophomore undergraduate studying Civil Engineering with a minor focus in Sustainability at the University of Nevada, Reno. I grew up in Las Vegas and decided to come to Reno to pursue a degree in Structural Engineering. From my time at Reno, I’ve also been gaining interest in Transportation and Urban Policy/Design. With that said, I’m really excited for this opportunity to delve into research on internationally leading innovative city and transportation designs, and to experience South Korea for the first time!

Lili Pakko: My name is Lili Pakko and I’m a second year Civil Engineering major at the University of Nevada, Reno. I’m an out of state student from Michigan and eventually would like to earn a PhD in structural engineering. I’m currently working on two research projects where I get to travel on site to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). On these projects I write MATLAB codes in order to process/archive data; in addition to many labor intensive tasks, such as soldering and preparing specimens for experimentation. I have mainly been around strictly civil engineering research; thus I am very excited to explore Seoul this Summer and work in the Urban Design and Planning Laboratory.

Justin Ryan: Justin Ryan is a 3rd year undergraduate Civil Engineering major at the University of Florida. Justin has found a community in the engineering groups on campus and is most passionate about his work on the ASCE Concrete Canoe Design team and in research at UF’s Sustainable Materials Management Research Laboratory. He is incredibly excited to continue towards his passion by combining skills from his internship in the land development industry and research experience to use in Professor Kwon Young-Sang’s Urban Design and Planning Laboratory at Seoul National University. In his free time, Justin enjoys weight lifting, team-sports like volleyball, and has recently picked up lion dance!

Hunter Saylor: I am Hunter Saylor, a third-year undergraduate at Morgan State University pursuing my BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering. I am from Baltimore, Maryland, and in my free time I like to rock climb and go to concerts. I have research experience interning at NASA, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and with the Morgan State University Rocket Program.
