Eligibility

Applicants must be an undergraduate/graduate student and a US Citizen/Permanent Resident attending one of the following U.S. partner institutions. Please note that for the graduate students, only Master level students will be allowed.

  • University of Nevada, Reno
  • University of Florida
  • Morgan State University

Applicants must also: (i) major in engineering or related field; (ii) be in good academic standing; (iv) have no prior participation in an IRES program; (v) be available for the entire duration of the IRES program, and (vi) demonstrate dedication in research activities post the IRES program.  

When to Apply

  • Applications for Summer 2025 will be accepted starting November, 2024.
  • Application deadline is January 13, 2025.
  • Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Applications will be screened for web-based interviews with potential host lab advisers. Selected students will be notified by mid February, 2025.

  • statement of research interests
    • The 2-page personal statement should include:
      1. Why are you interested in participating in IRSC?
      2. What specific research area you are interested in and why?
      3. What are your career objectives and how do you think this IRSC experience will help your future?
      4. Can you share any of your relevant research work or class experiences, if any?
  • Academic transcripts. unofficial or official

In addition, up to two (2) recommendation letters should be sent by the letter writer directly, addressed to Dr. Seri Park (nsf.irssc@gmail.com). The email title should include the Applicant’s name.
